It’s Time to Recap Where We are Today in Promoting Health Over 70
I have attended well over 200 hours of health conferences in 2017 and read hundreds of articles on the topic. I have joined organizations that provide abundant research and expert opinion. I have reviewed clinical practice notes from hundreds of doctors. I would like to offer some perspective about where I think we are and the challenges we face not only with our own health but that of future generations.
The Challenges
Let’s start with a list of the most significant challenges we face in managing our health.
Our Food Production
Chemicals – our primary food sources are being sprayed with ever-increasing amounts of herbicides and insecticides. Not only for these purposes but now Roundup and similar products have been discovered to work well as desiccants – chemicals that help dry out crops after harvest. So spraying has increased dramatically for this purpose because it allows fields to produce two crops per year instead of one. The chemicals of course increase our exposure. They interact with our gut bacteria and disrupt our hormones, kill off necessary gut bacteria used for our immune system and digestion. Leaky gut syndrome now causes our gut to allow proteins from our foods into a blood stream mimicking our organs and causing an epidemic of auto-immune disease which cause our body to attack our organs which then deteriorate over a period of time and show up as “aging” or endocrine failure of liver, pancreas, thyroid, pituitary, etc. Of course cancer cells develop as the bodies reaction to these conditions of extreme inflammation and disruption.
Soil Depletion – even in an ideal world where no chemicals are used or overspray our organic crops, our soil has been depleted through industrial agriculture so it’s now very unlikely that you will get the vitamins and minerals you need from your foods.
Packaged Food – most people don’t have to worry about soil depletion, however, because their diet consists of foods that don’t depend on agriculture. Packaged foods and fast foods are generally not made from fresh, raw, live, and whole foods. Therefore the soil mineral content is not a significant factor in most of these packaged or fast foods.
Genetically-Modified Seeds – many of our crops and a list that is increasing are grown with seeds that have been genetically modified to withstand chemicals, kill insects, and do things that the FDA and EPA say are safe – without having tested or allowed the foods to be tested. Independent tests have already proven that GMOs are harmful to humans in very serious ways. These crops are killing animals and people all over the world and in the US they comprise perhaps 70% or more of our crops of wheat, corn, soy, and more.
The Political and Social Barriers
War on Organic Family Farmers – the chemical and agricultural companies are waging a barely hidden war on small organic farmers. Suits against farmers for violating patents on seeds that are blown into adjacent organic fields by the wind are shutting down family farms who don’t have the money to defend themselves against armies of black suits and black suburbans arriving on property without invitation to threaten and coerce farmers and their families.
Media Owned by Pharmaceutical and Agriculture Big Business – our media is dominated by companies who spend billions on advertising. They decide what information we see and what information we don’t. If someone discovered a miracle cure for cancer – and they have – you would not see any coverage by any major media outlet in the world or any scientific study from any university in the world for this reason. You feel your education continues because of news coverage, articles, and television coverage of events and stories – but all of these are carefully chosen to shape and mold your opinions to conform to a narrative that is created by these big interests. For instance, you will watch 20 advertisements for drugs that will mask but not cure symptoms of auto-immune diseases – those that affect the immune system – and those drugs will be extremely expensive and require that you take them the rest of your life.
Demonized Supplements – you’ll note that the same media will demonize and marginalize supplements such as vitamin C unless they themselves can brand and sell it even though highly respected doctors have used these supplements with patients who got better or even had remissions on diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and more.
Vaccinations – in the US we require over 60 vaccinations before age 18 and deny children access to school without these even though most of these “diseases” have not had any significant case activity in over 40 years. Most of these vaccines contain mercury, aluminum, or other toxins which have been linked to autism and auto-immune disease. The vaccine business is a multi-billion dollar business with potentially higher profitability than any other product from pharmaceutical companies. These companies own the government agencies that regulate them and plan to introduce 300 more vaccines in the next 20 years.
Geoengineering – we may not fully understand why, but for at least 40 years, our governments have been spraying heavy metals into the atmosphere in order to control the weather. Now some say it’s weather warfare and we have to admit, anyone who can cause a hurricane cat 5 in your country pretty much doesn’t need to send in the troops except afterward when we can claim we providing humanitarian aid. And some say that our ozone layer is so depleted that we have no choice but to spray to reflect the sun’s rays (solar radiation management). Everyone has noticed how hot the sun is in recent years as UV B rays are starting to reach the earth as never before.
Increases in Disease – we are seeing dramatic increases in chronic disease and for the first time our average lifespans are dropping. Not only has the battle to cure cancer failed in spite of billions that ostensibly is going into research, but chronic non-infectious diseases are the #1 killers. Soon the cost of healthcare in America will be the #1 cost and will bankrupt our economy.
War on Cancer – although billions have been raised for this war, the only output of this massive machine are pharmaceutical money-makers – chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. Just like the War on Poverty or the War on Drugs – we seem to create more of whatever we wage war against but spend a lot of useless money doing it.
A Hopeless Outlook
Perhaps these things are so formidable that our only response can be hopelessness – giving up is the option that most older people take.
Another View
There is another view emerging and many highly intelligent and credible people in alternative medicine are adopting it. Let’s review some of the key points.
The Body is Timeless and Ageless – we have learned through our increasing knowledge of genetics and the application of “Functional” or “Integrative” medicine that our bodies were made to last forever. Our body replaces cells through a regular cycle anywhere from a few days to 6 months. We literally were designed to replace our own damaged cells. And our body was designed to “take out the trash” – that is, eliminate toxins and things that shouldn’t be there – including cancer cells which exist in the body all the time and are neutralized and removed by an immune system that was designed to be more than up to the task. Our body has the ability to completely cure and prevent diabetes, obesity (which is a disease not a condition of overeating), heart disease, autism, Alzheimer’s, MS, and everything else.
Food is Medicine – Hippocrates said it but it was largely ignored and misunderstood for centuries until our science of genetics and epigenetics caught up with us and helped us to understand that our food – the plants that grow on the earth naturally and seasonally are substances that talk to our cells and our genes, transmit information that is needed and required by our bodies, and contain the “code” to heal almost anything that might try to gain a foothold in the human body. Food is information and is transmitted through our “gut” throughout the body to activate systems and processes that are normal and natural to the human body. The body can only live for about 60 years deprived of this input before it breaks down – a process we call aging.
The Planet is Being Held Hostage by People Who are Ignorant to These Facts – we don’t give IQ tests to politicians and leaders and if we did they would be the ones designing the tests. We have to wake up and realize that we’ve given control of the planet to people who believe that making money is the goal, and are capable of thinking that population control is a legitimate agenda when it comes to chemical production, food production, pharmaceuticals, and warfare. If you want to look the other way and be a part of a warring nation that wages war constantly all over the world for resources and then starves its citizens and renders them homeless, OK, but don’t act like you don’t know it.
Look – all the rich people believe that over-population is a threat to their quality of life. It’s very possible they’re right. We have too many people already to sustain the planet and we’re going to double in ten years (INFERNO anyone?) – so it’s not a stretch to think that those in power are perfectly willing to have a stacked deck of chemicals, pseudo-foods, drugs, toxins, geo-engineering, and pollution of every kind let loose on the planet. Do you recall ever seeing an article that added up the combined effect of all of these deadly sources? I don’t think so because nobody cares about adding them up – they just know that the rate of disease is going up (in the right direction) and one of two children will be born with autism in another 20 years. No need to keep score as to which of these causes is the deadliest – just combine them – mandatory vaccines introduce aluminum into a one-day old children that sensitizes genes and by 5 years the aluminum in the food supply and air bump that over 100ug and poof – the brain cannot detox fast enough, inflammation from other sources has shut down the body’s detox anyway, and suddenly you have a person who can’t talk and care for themselves.
Potential Solutions
So how can you minimize the impact that all of this has on you?
The Power You Have
You don’t know it but you have a vote everyday when you go to the supermarket, when you go to the drugstore, when you decide what to watch on TV. Everything you do is a vote that cannot be ignored when we all make it together.
For instance, if you stop buying packaged foods from your supermarket, pretty soon you’ll see more and more local organic produce appear on the isles. If you drop the demand for packaged foods with mountains of sugar in them, pretty soon you’ll see packaged foods that attempt to be healthier. But don’t stop there. If you keep refusing to eat packaged foods of any kind, the minute it reaches the “tipping point” – about 15% of sales is the estimate – the companies trying to sell you that will have to go out of business.
Another example – if you start going to Farmer’s Markets and supporting your local farmers who grow organically but can’t afford the certification, you’ll start cooking and eating as close to organic as you can and more small farmers will be encouraged to purchase and grow organic seeds, rotate crops to make the soil healthier, and with your support, start to resist all of the influences that would impact our food supply. Doing that is already sending a clear message and one that impact the pocket books of those who would rather sell you food that makes you sick and then sell you drugs that mask the symptoms.
OK so your doctor prescribes a medication for your diabetes. Maybe you have to take that for a while – but if you start to realize that food is medicine and start eating like a human being you’ll find that you need less and less of that “medicine” from the drugstore and that sends a message as well. Don’t accept a doctor’s advice who says you’ll be on that medication the rest of your life. Thousands of people have already proven that’s not true so take the medicine but do the things that will cause you body to heal. It happens all the time and if you don’t know about it that’s just because you haven’t been paying attention.
You have the power to NOT GIVE UP. And you have the power to make lifestyle changes that improve not only your lifespan but the QUALITY of your life.
I have a relative who everyone said was “AS HEALTHY AS A HORSE” until at 82 she has a quadruple bypass. She ate meat at every meal, bacon 5 times a week, and sugar with every meal in some form. Turns out she wasn’t that healthy but as soon as she got home she began eating the way she always had – pizza, bread, grains of all kinds, dairy, canned and packaged foods. I believe that she just didn’t want to change what she was eating because she liked it, she had the habit of eating it, and be damed if she’s going to change her habits with only 10-20 years left. (I’ll try to replicate her thinking but in truth you never really can be certain you understand someone else’s thinking)
As I am 73, I understand this point of view. Too hard to change. Easier to just endure the pain and then die. Except you don’t really understand what you’re saying. Endure the pain? Do you actually understand that these chronic diseases will put you on insulin, blood thinners, blood pressure medication, and more. And you’ll end up more than likely in a bed or having your feet amputated? And your children will be the ones who have to take care of you – if they have money then they’re lucky because they can shuffle you off to a home somewhere but if not, then you end up in a bed IN THEIR HOME!
PLEASE UNDERSTAND WHAT CHOICES YOU’RE MAKING – DON’T GET LAZY AND MAKE THE LIVES OF YOUR CHILDREN A LIVING HELL!
Read “A Letter from Your Grandchildren”
But you do have the power to make decision. It’s not all that hard to do.
- Cut sugar out of your diet – don’t eat anything with refined sugar added – that means no soft drinks, no “Iced tea” and no pastries, cakes, candy, cookies – eliminate anything with sugar as an ingredient – doing this alone will have a major impact on your health over a period of months and years.
- Reduce things that have a high amount of natural sugars – be moderate with fruits and especially juices.
- Cut out dairy products – milk only does a body good if you’re a calf. It was made to grow calves. It has a devastating effect on humans even if it’s not loaded with antibiotics, pesticides, and hormones. For the most part you can’t get dairy products without these things so just give it up.
- Cut out factory-farmed meats. Your diet should be 90% fresh plant-based organic and 10% at most grass-fed and pastured beef, chicken, or pork. You don’t have to eat meat – fresh farm-raised organic vegetables have all the protein you need but if you do eat meat then limit yourself to 4oz and only the best quality pasture-raised and grass feed organic animals. The increased price will be offset by the reduced quantity. And unless you know how to detox yourself for heavy metals give up FISH – you can’t really find it anywhere without loads of heavy metals and unless it is tested you just can’t take the chance because you’re already carrying around heavy metals from years of collection – guess where your body stores that? Well what do most people nowadays get as they age? (Alzheimer’s, dementia) it’s stored in the brain.
- Cut out grains – flour of any kind is refined – take it out of your diet and minimize “whole grains” – they’re mainly not that anyway but at least cutting out flour gets you out of the zone where things turn to sugar in your bloodstream faster than sugar itself.
Just doing these few things will not only send a message to your food and medical suppliers, but will start you on the path to health. Take the organic vegetables and fruits you can get at the market or Farmer’s Market, lightly steam the broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, squash, etc, and make a salad. Eat rice and potatoes in moderation and not every day. You’ll dramatically change your lifestyle and be well on your way to eliminating the medications you won’t need and ensuring your children won’t have to look after you.
If your meals were the high points of your day, then find something else to be your high point and let meals become a enjoyable way you ensure your health and that you don’t become a burden to your family and future generations.
